Default Little Ways to Go Green

It's the little things that you can do around your house that add up and make the biggest impact on saving the Earth. You don't have to go all out and buy everything eco-friendly at one time to make a difference. You can start with the little things around your house that you already have.

1. Instead of tossing out all of those paint containers that only have a small amount left in them. Mix them together and use that to paint the inside of the shed or garage. Just be sure to only mix latex with latex and oils with oils.

2. Save your used paint thinner for later use. If you let the solvent sit overnight after using it, the sludge (paint or whatever you cleaned) will settle at the bottom, leaving the top portion like brand new paint thinner.

3. Unplug the power tools, including the chargers. They continuously use juice even when not in use.

4. Check your fridge and freezer's seals. Open the doors and place a dollar bill between the gaskets and then close the door. Pull the bill out and if there is no resistance then you need to replace the seals.

5. Check to see if the flapper in your toilet is leaking using food coloring. Place some food coloring in your tank and leave the toilet sit for a couple of hours. If you notice the coloring in the bowl then your flapper is leaking, costing you money and wasting the water.

There are tons of little things that you can do to make a huge impact on the enviroment.

Very good idea's, I have mixed paint together, and its was usable, turned out a very pretty color was a big surprise to me, had enough to paint a large room also, so It was not only green, it saved me some money, that we all could use in these times.

Hey, something else. Dont throw away those paint cans that have handles, you know the full sized cans.

Instead, wash them out well, strip off all paper and decide on a design you would like. Take a metal punch and punch that design into the side of the can.

Now that you are done, you can use this can on your deck or porch with a candle inside for illumination. The can protects the candle from wind and also from any accidents from children or animals. And, at night when the candle is lit inside the can, your design shows up very nicely.
