Kleenex pop up towels
I just saw a commercial for these Kleenex pop up hand towels. I must say that the idea is a good one, but personally I think that these should not be sold!!
I say this because let's think about it. We are all attempting to do our parts in the effort to go green and then here comes along a company who manufactures something like this and reading about this product I found that the packaging is recyclable however the towels themselves are made from virgin wood. Which means that they are not made from recycled material as I believe they should be.
To me this is just another way to pollute the environment and destroy the forests (what is left of them). I am sorry but I think that this is a total waste and forces us to move backwards in the going green effort rather than forward.
I guess more manufactures should stop to think about what they are doing. I know they mostly only care about their profit margins, however this is their planet also and I am surprised that they are not willing to do more to protect it.

Re: Kleenex pop up towels
I love the idea of them. I saw them advertised on a commercial. I don't think i'd waste my money on them though. Whats wrong with a good old fashion hand towel? Something that you can reuse about a thousand times! I guess it comes down to those who are really into combatting germs. I am all for being clean but a few germs don't scare me off. lol.

Re: Kleenex pop up towels
I know that everyone in my family uses what many generations have used before and it is simply a hand towel to dry our hand on. I see nothing wrong with this and of course using a regular hand towel isn't going to pollute the environment more than it already is.
These pop up towels are in my opinion simply a huge waste of a person's money as well as just another way for us to destroy the planet slowly.
As I said before I don't know why in the hell companies come up with new ways that we can use to cause more problems for us all instead of coming up with ways to not only help ourselves but to also make sure that we protect the plantet at the same time.
Who knows maybe one of these days the effort to go green will be more wide spread and people as well as big companies will start taking a closer look at what is being done all around us and find ways to prevent it.

Re: Kleenex pop up towels
People with money are very greedy and most of the time only want more of it,they can never have enough.
It does not surprise me any that companies do not look at the big picture they only see dollar signs.
This is really sad because we are making the earth a bad place for our children and grandchildren by abusing our resources like this.

Re: Kleenex pop up towels
The first time I saw the ads for these, I could hardly believe it. Of all the products to come out on a market so hopped up on the word "green" that the dictionaries have to be updated--disposable towels?? You don't have to be an eco-activist to raise your eyebrow at THAT kind of waste. Kimberly-Clark should be ashamed of itself--not only for creating yet another product to end up in a landfill, but for creating an ad campaign aimed toward kids, convincing them that using something once and trashing it is better than finding a quality alternative and reusing it.
Oy.

Re: Kleenex pop up towels
It is horrible seeing so many claiming to be going green, then to see the same companies turn around and produce a product that is going to harm the planet. It really is mind boggling how they can do this.
Truth is all they really do care about is the money that they are putting into their pockets and they will go green as long as it doesn't harm their profit margins!!
The only thing I can suggest is that we all do what we can to purchase items that are not going to be harmful to the planet and maybe then these companies who pretend to be going green with get the picture and start understanding that people aren't going to pay for things that are going to make sure this planet has no future!!

Re: Kleenex pop up towels
To me, these are a total waste of money. First you buy them, then you use them and then throw them away.
By using them, I think its wasting money, as I said, for one thing. Then on top of that, we are wasting valuable resources in the making of these. And then, we are throwing even more in our landfills.
Whats wrong with using a hand towel, or even a clean wash cloth to dry your hands on? Both of these are smaller, of course, than a regular sized towel and therefore dont take up much space in the washer, thus saving money on water and laundry soap, and dryer time.
Down with disposable hand towels.

Re: Kleenex pop up towels
I guess Kleenex hasn't heard of anti-bacterial hand soap yet...
Yeah, maybe using the popup towels while camping might be ok, or better yet while you're hiking and you have nothing to clean up with; before you eat lunch or a snack while on the trail.
I use to jump down our kids throats for using paper towels to dry their hands because they were too lazy to get out a clean cloth towel to dry with.
We only use the paper towels for cleaning up spills and as napkins during dinner time.

Re: Kleenex pop up towels
I am sorry but by using products like this people are in my opinion doing what they can to damage the planet rather than helping to protect it.
I know what you mean Dyno about kids using paper towels to dry their hands on, that is something I also quickly put a stop to. I think that we all need to do what we can to help protect the earth instead of causing it harm.
I like to use cloth dinner napkins for dining. Though these can easily get stained up and require a lot of scrubbing to keep them clean depending on what was served for dinner.
I just don't get why companies wanna say that they want to help the planet when they are mass producing products that are going to do nothing but cause the world damage.
That is just very upsetting to me. I don't claim to be doing what I can to go green, I am actually doing what I can to go green.

Re: Kleenex pop up towels
I went on Amazon (my home away from home) and purchased a 24-pack of cheap, white terry-cloth hand towels (about 12" x 12"). I keep them in a small bucket under my sink to use every time I have to wash a pair of hands or clean up a spill or really anything else that I would normally use a paper towel for. Even if I only use them for one thing, I still feel better about tossing them into a load of white laundry (which I would be doing anyway) than reaching for the paper stuff. I feel like I'm saving money, and I never have to worry about the towel breaking apart or not having the "brawn" to complete the job.
I would suggest, now learning from experience, that if you can find darker colored, inexpensive cloths like these, you might be better off. It's hard to keep the white ones looking white for very long. I guess the good thing about spots is that it's a reminder how many times they've been reused!
