Default How important is it to build a green home?

we have all done our fair share of damage to the enviroment, most of the time we dont even realize it. Though now more and more people are becomming aware of the damage we cause and have begun to take steps to correct the situation. There are no quick fixes to the problems, but we can all do our parts to at least slow down the changes until permanent solutions are found.
Building green homes are a great way to begin the process. Most homes in the U.S. and around the world use alot of energy which actually could be saved. No one can ignore the problems which we have caused on our beautiful and only planet. The first step to take when building a green home is to learn about the products we all use daily in our homes. Some methods used to produce the products we use are not always safe for the environment. If a method of producing a product is not safe for the environment then it isnt going to help you in creating a green home.
Proper insulation is crucial in helping to create a green home. Insulation will help save energy when heating or cooling your home. Building a green home takes some research into renovations and green constructions, but your planet will thank you for the work you have done.
If you are able to and investment in solar panels or possibly even a windmill as another source of energy for your home is an excellent way to help your self in going green.
Reducing the amount of time you spend driving is yet another way to help yourself go green. Working and shopping in your local area is great, if you must travel a good distance for work or to go shopping this isnt much help to the environment. Though public transportation or sharing a ride when possible will help.

Every little thing we do to help protect our planet is a plus. We only have this one world to live on, and we all must do our parts in protecting it. As I said there are no quick fixes for the problems we have caused, but we all can take even small steps to help slow the rate of damage we do.

I feel that we can all do our part in helping our environment, even if we aren't currently building a home. We can all do little things that do add up to help in a big way, many of which helps not only the environment, but also our pocketbooks.

Everyone needs to have good insulation in their home to use less energy and of course this keeps our heating/cooling costs down. Also re-using things that we'd normally throw away can also help our wallets out a bit while lessening the amount of waste in our landfills. The list goes on and on.
