Default Gulf Oil Spill Update

I have been keeping an eye on the rig and the oil spill since it all began. Well this morning there was an update on everything that has been going on and it was a surprising update to see.

Apparently the cement that was used to plug the well and stop the oil from leaking into the ocean is actually a new mixture and it is one that doesn't work very well.

From what I heard BP had requested that some changes be made to the cement formula before it was used in the well, and the formula had not been tested and now they are saying that the mixture is breaking down.

Now this could mean that oil will be leaking into the ocean once again. Now this is the last thing that is needed as the oceans and wildlife have been attempting to return to a normal way of life and if oil is once again introduced into the oceans this is going to again have a horrible effect on wildlife and the people in the area as well.

From what I understand BP knew that the cement being used may not hold and they continued to use it anyway!! Now in my opinion using something that hasn't been tested is just plain stupidity!!

I agree with you when you say that using that untested cement was stupid. But on the other hand, why would they want changes made to it if they didnt know it was defective?

And why take the chance of using this mixture if it is to be used to prevent something of this magnitude from happening again. Once was enough and really wreaked havoc finacially and wildlife wise when it happened the first time.

BP needs to give our planet a break and start doing things right the first time or the government needs to shut them down.

After hearing this I am lead to believe that they want this kind of stuff to happen, though the reason why eludes me entirely.

I have to also agree that they need to be shut down. It does not make any sense what so ever to change the mixture just before using it to stop a disaster.

Because of this I really believe strongly that BP needs to face some hefty fines and the possibility of being put out of business. This planet does not need businesses that work this way.
