You are right, it is an US based oil company. It is Mariner Energy out of Houston, Texas.

It seems kind of odd that the president wanted to go for more off shore drilling and now we are having these oil rigs blow up. This one was not a working rig, but had a crew on it anyway.

Now one company will be saying that this damage was not caused by them but by the other explosion with the other company and vice versa. They will play the blame game to try and get out of some of the money that it's gonna cost them no doubt.

Imagine this much more damage on top of what has already been done. It's aweful!

Well here is some more information on the latest oil rig explosion. I guess that this all shows us that the idea of offshore driling is iffy at best.

Rig Explosion

I wonder if all of this means that we really need to start using other resources other than oil?? I say this because apparently people and companies aren't able to drill for oil with out cauing havoc on economies and ecosystems!!

Though again I say that at least this last explosion did not take the lives of the crew nor did it leak several millions of gallons of oil into the oceans.

I at one time thought offshore drilling might be a good idea as it would help produce jobs at a time when there were few, however it is not worth the destruction of the delicate balance of ecosystems on this planet.
