Default Green weddings

The latest trend for weddings is to go green. More and more people are looking to into this option when plaaning their wedding. Couples are going anywhere from using recycled materials to even getting rings that are made of recycled precious metals and gemstones.

A couple of important things you can do are these:

Quote:
This is your day to show the ones you love your passion for the environment.
  • Minimize the amount of driving your guests will need to do.
  • Donate leftover food rather than throwing it out.
  • Don't register for things you don't need: give your guests the option of giving donations in your name instead.

You can also buy your wedding attire secondhand instead of buying new. You can also get all of the flowers and such at local growers and makers.
Also ordering a caterer that buys food from local growers or doing a potluck style dinner will help you go green in your wedding.

These are some great tips for helping the environment while celebrating the union of a couple.

Thanks for these tips. I know of at least one couple that are in the planning stages of their wedding, and these tips are something that they should know about.

The more that we do now for the planet will mean that future generations are going to be able to enjoy it more in the future.

I love the idea of green weddings. Not only would it help the enviroment but also look at the cost of regular weddings today. They are out of control. It amazes me what people are willing to pay for their wedding! No way would I put that kind of money out and I really do love my husband. I just would never have spent thousands of dollars just to say I Do!

I agree with ya there flip_it_fast. It is unreal what people will pay for a wedding. I think that money would be better spent starting their new lives together rather than on the wedding itself.

Also leaving out the alcohol would be another way to help lower the costs, lessen the amount of damage to the planet ( who knows who is going to blow chunks where and of course most men tend to use the restroom where ever they please when intoxicated).

Green weddings would be the best way to go I think if your planning on getting married in the future. I mean lets face it why spend thousands of dollars- which some wedding dresses cost that alone anymore, when that money could be used in fixing up a home, new furniture, things that are actually needed rather than on some celebration that lasts a few hours then its over. Green weddings make more sense to me.

I agree with the cost being crazy. Why spend thousands of dollars on a dress and other things. Its better to just find a dress secondhand or even buy a white prom dress. That is what i did. Unfortunately i didnt get a chance to where it. My ex wouldnt let me and i gained to much weight to even think of trying to where it with my second wedding. You can even make your own cake if your good at it. You dont need to spend hundreds of dollars. Just meke a few round cakes and stack them and cover each section with fondant. You dont need to make the fancy kind. Just some marshmallows, powdered sugar, and a tiny bit of water and you have a really good fondant for your cake. If you want some different colors just take part of the fondant you make and add food color gel to it. It works great. Just ask my hubby I made hime an ohio state cake using fondant and he loved it.
