"Green" Flooring
We've spoken about "floating floors" at different times. One of the floating floor options is one that uses bamboo as the basis for these floors.
The bamboo floors look just like traditional hardwood floors, but bamboo regrows in just 6 years, instead of all the years that it takes to grow a tree. Bamboo also grows abundantly here and in other countries, with the leaves and shoots being a food source for livestock.
Bamboo is also extremely strong and can hold up to high traffic areas of a home. Bamboo floors also don't need to be refinished as often as other popular floor surfaces.
There are several options for bamboo floors, but one of the most popular is the "floating floor". The bamboo is not only very strong, but is also lightweight and allows a single homeowner to install it in a short time.
While the cost of bamboo flooring can vary - it depends on the grade, finish, veneer, etc. - it can be found at home improvement stores at low cost. Of course being able to install it yourself is a big factor in keeping the cost low.
