Default Geothermal heating

Geothermal heating is the direct use of geothermal power for heating applications.

About seventy countries made use of a total of 270 PJ of geothermal heating in 2004. As of 2007, 28 GW of geothermal heating capacity is installed around the world, satisfying 0.07% of global primary energy consumption.

Definition--

Geothermal energy originates from the heat retained within the Earth's core since the original formation of the planet, from radioactive decay of minerals, and from solar energy absorbed at the surface.[2] Most high temperature geothermal heat is harvested in regions close to tectonic plate boundaries where volcanic activity rises close to the surface of the Earth. In these areas, ground and groundwater can be found with temperatures higher than the target temperature of the application. However, even cold ground contains heat, and it may be extracted with a geothermal heat pump. Due to recent advances in heat pump performance, this is now a rapidly growing market.

This a a great way to go green, and will lower your heating costs alot.

I had never heard of this before and it is a really cool idea,to use energy and heat that is already here naturally.

I still don't totally understand hoe it works exactly though I am going to check it out.I looked at some of the prices and they are high, but i guess it will save you in the long run.

If you wait just a bit the prices will go down some if you are interestd in maybe pruchasing one for your home.

You are right, it is a great way to go green, and would lower heating bills significantly. But, who can afford the heat pump and all the other equipment needed to install it into your home?

It seems that we are asked to go green at every turn, but, there is no help out there for us to do so. People who own their homes but dont make enough money to do these things arent able to "go green" because of the cost.

Yes, we do get a tax break of sorts for some of these things, but the problem is coming up with the money to install solar panels or the heat pumps to get the credit.
