Default Borax, its many uses.

Borax is a mineral and its a natural way to take care of many problems around the house. But while its harmless as a solution, gloves should be worn when handling borax and you have to be careful that it is not eaten by humans or animals.

One of the many things borax is useful for is in your laundry. It helps your detergent work better. Just add a cup to each load. It works as a water softener thus helping the detergent work better.

Add a little to your cat litter to control odors.

Mix equal parts of borax and sugar to control ants, roaches, and water bugs.

It will deter mice when sprinkled along the walls.

Sprinkle it on your carpet and let set for at least an hour then vacuum it up. It will help kill and prevent fleas in your home.

It is also said that borax will kill bedbugs, just sprinkle it on your matress, let set a while and then vacuum it up.

Other uses include cleaning the toilet bowl, use as a cleaner for walls when mixed in water with a tablespoon of ammonia, and a teaspoonful of dish detergent.

Its uses are numerous, and it is a natural, meaning you can help go green by using it.

Default Re: Borax, its many uses.

Thank you flippinout for posting this useful bit of info.

We had an ant problem a couple years ago during heavy rains we were having in the summer and used Borax to deter those buggers.
The ants were in our closets and starting to make nests in our clothing, shoes, and anything that was laying around.

First; we sprayed the clothes and other things with bug spray and then cleaned them.
The next day we went to a Target store (I think it was) and bought some borax and a small container with a funneled spout on top.

I went along all the outside cracks with the borax where the ants were coming in...
Then, went under the house and sprinkled the borax on all pipes and wires that I could get to.

We haven't had an ant problem since. Other than the occasional stray ant that gets in through our back sliding door.

It's about time for me to get back under the house and add more borax. It's another rainy summer on our property.

Isnt it wonderful to be able to use something besides insecticides to take care of the insects? Just be careful around animals with the borax.

And putting it around the outside of you home will keep them from coming inside as you have indicated. It wil also most likely help with spiders too which is a problem we have every fall. They make webs everywhere.

I will try the borax and let you know if it works on the spiders too.
