Default 8 green steps winterize your home

1.Douse drafts, caulk windows and doors, this will save energy, you can also make a draft snake, made of any rolled up fabric, simply roll up a towel, and put where there still is a draft, I personally use old throw rugs rolled up, works great with no cost to you.

2.Replace furnace filters,if your old is clogged it makes the unit work harder, that uses more energy.

3.Turn down water heater thermostat, a good temperature r is 120 F.

4.Watch your thermostat, for ever degree you cab lower it you can save 1 to 3 percent on your heating bill.

5.Wear warm clothing so you can keep your heat down.

6.Beef up insulation, in your home, and around your water pipes, for added energy saving.

7.Switch ceiling fan direction. by doing this you will push your heat back down , this will also help on your energy bill.

8.Use a Eco-friendly ice melter

I do all of that and more, anything I can to cut down on electric. If everywhere is like it is here the electric companys seem to rip you off during the hottest time and the coldest time.

I know I have done all of this and more and the bill still is higher than what I think it should be, and they keep going up. They know we have to have it, so I think they charge what ever they want to, essp during these times.
