Question Selling Your Home a Challenge in a Tough Market

It's never easy to sell a home though you posses the help of

many others. When there's a tough

market where supply is higher than demand, it's even harder. There are so many

things to prepare when you're finally ready to put the house on the market.

First, you've got to make sure everything is clean. And while some people's idea

of clean is a little different than other people's, it is important to think

about what other people want in a house. Clean up things to their standards, not

yours. If you have a shabby lawn, think about edging along the sidewalk or

weeding your landscaping.
These are simple, no cost ways to make your property look better than ever. If

you make sure to put your home's best foot forward, it won't matter if it's a

mansion or a quaint little property built with cottage home plans. You can also

make your home's exterior look good on the cheap by doing simple things like

mowing the lawn frequently, washing off your siding with a hose, and giving the

windows and screens a good scrub. It's the little details that leave an

impression, and a little elbow grease and a couple weekends' time is a small

price to pay to make that impression.
When there are lots of quality homes flooding the market, what else can you do to

make your property stand out? Well, unless you have something truly unique, like

a home built with log cabin house plans, you'll have to accentuate what you've

got. Sometimes that means using some of the little tricks that others have

learned over the years. Putting a new coat of paint on nicked up, dirty walls is

one time-tested technique. Making sure your home is filled with the smell of

freshly baked cookies or bread is another. You never know if you'll get a

prospective buyer who thinks with their nose! Another tip is an extremely easy

one-simply clean up. Get rid of everything you don't need, either selling it at a

garage sale, giving it to charity, or storing it somewhere else. Then, with

what's left over, make sure to arrange it in a pleasing way. Cluttered houses

stay on the market for a long time.
Finally, if you're not blessed with luxury home plans, you may want to think

about dropping the asking price of your house. It's a stark reality that in a

tough market you're likely not going to get exactly what you want or exactly what

you think your home is worth. Adjust your expectations, drop that price, and get

that house sold.
