Default Tips on growing ferns

1.At least 63 to 70% shade is required in summer, if it gets more the leaves can turn brown.

2.Best temperature for growth is between 73º and 86ºF.

3. Ferns do not like to have wet feet soil Most of them like to lightly dry out between the watering.

4.It is best to keep them on continuous feed, using a good fertilizer.

5.Any chemical used to get rid of pests can be harmful to the plant, will burn the leaves.

6.Use a soil high in peat, one that drains well.

If you follow these few tips you can have a beautiful fern, I love ferns do not seem to need a lot from you.

Default Re: Tips on growing ferns

I have a couple of Boston Ferns and an Asparagus Fern and they are doing really well. I was glad to be able to get them out on the deck though this spring because they were beginning to look a little shabby, which happens every year because theres not much humidity in the house in the winter.

Also anther good rule of thumb with any fern is to mist it every day. Just fill a spray bottle with water and spray the fronds daily. These are plants that take in a lot of moisture from the air etc.
