Default Planting Plans for next year

Now is the time to head outside and make your plans for planting next year.
Make a plan as to where you want your plants, what kind of plants, and how you want them planted or even specific colors you want. Write it all down so that when it comes time to start planting you will know exactly what you will need, about how many you will need, colors you want, and any other materials you will need or want. This also goes for your vegetable gardens as well. Making a plan ahead of time will save you alot of guess work and you will be able to take the entire winter to make changes to your plan so that when the time comes you will know that everything will be the way you wanted.
I had planted a couple flowers in my yard near the side of my home, then later I realized that it was a mistake. I just didnt like them there at all. Today I went outside and decided to make my plans for next year, as well as made my list as what I want and what materials I will need.
Being prepared will save you alot of time in the long run, and help prevent you from purchasing more plants then you have room for.

This is a great time to begin planning for your garden, whether it be your flower garden or vegetable garden. It's such a great money saver to start your plants indoors from seeds while it's still cold outside, and by knowing how many plants, what plants you want and where they will go, you will be way ahead of the game when spring comes and you can plant those little beauties outside!!

Missmannors I have a couple of questions about starting plants inside. You see I usally just go and spend a whole lot of money buying my veggies and flowers which have already been started. Though if I could start them myself at home it would proably save me alot of money. My questions are:

1. What flowers can be started inside? My yard is very shaded so I need to find plants which like alot of shade, but I would like to start them insided so my yard is looking good as soon as possible.
2. When is the best time (month) to start them inside?
3. What kind of containers are best to start them in?
4. What veggie plants can be started inside? I would really like some tomato plants as well as cucumber plants, can these be started inside?

I am such a dunce when it comes to this stuff, LOL.

February is a great month to start plants inside.

Tomatoes can easily be started inside in February and by the time planting season comes around here they are ready to be put outside outside.

Cucumbers arent something I would suggest starting inside as they are a plant that will die easily if the plant itself is touched.

Any flowers that have seeds can be started indoors. Plus, a lot of them can be started in water from cuttings you have taken from the parent plant. These include most vines, wandering jews, etc.

Plants like Aloe can be split and planted other regular post to increase the number of plants you have.

The small peat pots are excellent for starting new tomato plants from seed. Just plant 2 seeds in each section and when they start growing remove the smaller of the two plants, that way you are assured a tomato plant for each section you have seeds in.

Hostas are great shade plants, you just separate them each spring and plant where wanted.

Thank you Flippinout. Hopefully these plans will allow me to get my plants ready for planting early next year with out killing them. That is a bad habit of mine, I tend to over care for my plants and they die.
I must say I honestly didnt know that cucumber plants would die from being trouched. I am glad you said that. They would surely have died on me.
I dont have any mother plants at my home, but next year I plan on planting some marigolds, mums, tulips and maybe a rose bush.
