Default March is when I begin work in flower beds.

I use the nice warm days in March to rake all of the winters debris out of my flower gardens and to put the fences back up or replace any damaged fences in my flower beds.

This is also the month in which all the winters debris is cleaned out of the front and back yards, and any thing in the backyard that is no longer going to be used, is also removed. This year, it will be the large swing set that has been up for several years. It is time to either replace it or just have more yard space with it gone.

I also like to just go outside and look around and decide what I would like to place where in the way of plants or trellises in the later spring. And to remove any yard ornaments that I am just plain tired of.

A little pre planning goes a long way when it comes time to get right in there and start planting and sprucing up for the coming months.

The last week of March is when I plant my Marigold seeds. These hardy plants just love the chilly weather and when they are ready to bloom, the plants are gigantic in size, I believe it is from the early start they are given.

This is also the time when I decide where I may place a few vegetable plants since I dont plan on having a garden this year. I may even purchase a couple of the hanging tomato plants this year so that we can have fresh, home grown tomatoes for sandwiches etc.

I also use this time to bring in any of my lawn furniture that needs repaired or repainted so that I can have all ready to place when the weather turns better. Plus, doing all of this in March gives me a more concrete sense that spring will actually be here soon.

I've already done a lot of cleanup in my yard, though there will be more tree branches and what-not to clean up as the March winds brings more of these things into my yard.

I know that some of my outdoor furniture will need some paint touch-ups and I'll need to replace some cushions also. I'm looking forward to getting the furniture back out into the yard to enjoy the coming spring weather.

I can hardly wait to get some seeds planted outdoors, and of course the marigolds will be among the first that will be planted.

My flower beds are my passion,I love to get perinials and annuals in my beds.

First,I keep plastic down under my mulch, cutting a whole in ti wherever I want a plant at.Then I draw my plan out on paper, making a row of annuals and then a close row of perinials. This way I have flowers all year round.Comming and going all year long.

I have even spelled out words using my flower bed, like welcome, and peace.

I keep Scotts pesticide on all my plants and I fertilize them with Bloom Plus.It keeps pretty flowers budding nicely.
