Default Making a patio fountain.

It is possible to build a patio fountain in less than a day. Here are some tips to accomplish it. You will need a large black plastic tub about 32 inches in diameter and 14 inches deep. You need a pump the one used was a 40-80 gallon per hour one, three eighths tubing and galvanized steel hardware cloth it has to be large enough to cover the top of the tub. Tools needed are gloves and wire cutters. You need a 4 by 8 brick to wire to the pump and a fountain fixture for the top. It is suggested maybe a glazed pot with a hole in the bottom for the tubing.
You should have a GCFI outlet to plug your pump into to prevent shock.
Start your project by tying the pump to the brick to keep it from floating in the tub.
Unroll your hardware cloth and cut it large enough to fit the top of the tub leaving enough to fold under the lip of the tub.
You will need to make an opening in the wire to allow you to place the pump with the brick attached into the bottom of the tub. You then need a piece of the mesh big enough to cover that hole.
Attach the tubing to the pump, decide how long it needs to be allowing at least 5 inches above the rim of the tub.
When finished place your pump and put the tubing through the piece you cut to cover the hole for pump placement.
Decorate the top as desired and place the free end of the tub in the pot you chose. You can have the water flow from the pot over some rocks you have placed underneath it.
Never let your fountain run dry as you will burn up your pump. Have fun and enjoy your new patio fountain.

Default Re: Making a patio fountain.

This fountain sounds not only quick and easy to build, but beautiful as well. I do love fountains. They are so very peaceful. I would love to be able to put up a fountain at my home, but sadfully I just dont have a good place to put one. Though maybe after some clean up is done and some trees are tamed back a bit, I might be able to put up a small fountain. A neighbor of ours has a fountain, and I know that she has to refill hers often, because the deer love to drink form it. She loves it though because she gets to sit in her kitchen and watch them all.
