Default Low-Stress Vines

Plants can add a really nice touch to the outside of the house. Vibrant colors, different textures and scents can really appeal to potential buyers. Vines are a great way to bring all of these things together and can be basically maintenance free. With all of the vine choices out there, you are sure to find something you love.

Plus, there's lots of payoff for very little effort. Not only are vines no-fuss plants, several are fast growers and will cover a large area quickly. Use them to help provide privacy or soften a wall, add interest to a trellis, cover a "fort" for the kids or add lushness and fragrance to the porch. Whether you're interested in flowers, fruit or foliage, there's a vine for you.

One of my favorite vines to grow is the Morning Glory. I have had a lot of success with this one. Whether in sun or shade, moist or dry ground it just wants to grow and grow. They are very inexpensive, come in many colors and are fast growers.

I have a trumpet vine that just gets out of control every year. The vines on this thing get 20 to 30 feet long and it takes no time for them to do this. I want to put my trellis out there for it to grow over but just havent gotten around to it.

Actually, I just think I want the whole thing removed, it is too intrusive for my taste.

I have never had a Trumpet vine but it does sound a little crazy and out of control. I had my Morning glory vine climbing up a telephone pole that was in my yard and it really hid the pole without going out of control or doing any damage to the wires. It certainly made the pole look better. Maybe try one of these on your trellis. In the fall the vine dies off and becomes very brittle, it is very easy to remove.

I have to say when I bought my house that was the first to go. All of the vines. there was ivy and morning glories galore drove me nuts for 2 years. Finally got rid of them all. I do like trumpet vines however my mother is allergic to them so that is out. I'll stick to my roses and bleeding hearts and blazing stars and my yellow flowers I don't know the name of them but I have to say they are one of my favorites.
