Smile Lawn TLC Now for a Beautiful Spring/Summer

Any damage done to your lawn over the summer months can be repaired during the fall and over the winter. Actually your lawn can be improved over these seasons, to be healthier and to have fewer weeds come spring.

Feeding your lawn is the most important thing that can be done for your lawn in the fall. Many people are amazed at the difference it makes to their lawns the following spring. A dramatic difference can be seen right away, but a second feeding in the late fall will really make a difference in the spring, because this helps to lock in those early changes in the vitality of the turf and will carry them on into the next spring.

This late-fall feeding will give your grass all it needs to prepare it for winter. The roots absorb and store vital nutrients and helps the grass to continue underground root development in the cooler months until the ground freezes solid. The stored nutrients will be quickly tapped in the spring to stimulate growth and make your lawn a vibrant, deep green. In fact you will see that your lawn could be the first in your neighborhood to green up in the spring.

Homeowners make 3 common mistakes in lawn care.

First of all, they often let their grass starve by letting the lawn be undernourished in the winter months.

Another mistake is that tree leaves are allowed to smother the grass, which robs a lawn of sunlight which is needed for photosynthesis.

Last, homeowners discontinue mowing. Grass should always be mowed until it quits growing. Mower height setting should be maintained throughout the fall. Many people are tempted to mow their lawns shorter going into the winter months.

If using a mulching mower, and you have heavy leaves from any trees in the area, you may want to consider depositing the grass clippings and chopped up leaves on your compost pile, rather than letting them lay on the lawn. This will help to keep the leaves from smothering your grass.

Default Re: Lawn TLC Now for a Beautiful Spring/Summer

I will admit it, my lawn does not get the required TLC that it needs to for the cold winter months. I am aweful when it comes to that. I never get all of leaves raked nor do I treat the lawn. Somehow though, it always comes back in the Spring looking pretty good. I must just be lucky lol.
