Default Late winter maintainance.

Clear the leaves from your outdoor pond, especially if there are fish in it as the rotting leaves can have an adverse effect on the fish.

Be sure never to use herbacides to kill weeds around a pond as the rain and snow may carry the herbacide into the pond, and herbicides can harm both your fish and the pond plants you may have.

Cut back your ornamental grasses now for new more beautiful, fuller growth in the spring.

Now is a great time to prune vines that are growing into other plants or hedges. Better to do it now than to wait until spring time when they are harder to see because of the leaves on the other plants.

We have a grape vine that we planted along our fence around the front yard. It has really taken off and now covers our entire fence, as well as most of our neighbors as well.

Thankfully they like having it on there for added privacy, though we have to make sure it doesnt wiggle its way onto her gate.

It has also began to grow into our lilac bush out front and that was a horribly tangled mess trying to get it all untangled and clipped back for next year. It took me a good 3 hours to get it cut away from the lilac bush.

Though if I would have waited and attempted it when the leaves are all in view, then it would have proably taken me a good 5 hours to do it or more.

I agree on the leaves in your pond. You sure want to get them out, they stay and toxify and will kill your fish. Also if you have acorn trees make sure you get the acorns out too. they are toxic. Never ever use weed killer or anything like that either, that will kill your fish and any plants you have in it.
