Default Growing Grass

Recently I mentioned that at my old man's place they dug up his yard to replace the drainage pipe as well as his water meter.

Well when they did this they really made a mess out of the yard and of course now the grass is like gone.

It really looks horrible right now, and I was hoping that someone here would be able to recommend a way or several ways that I can go about getting the grass to grow back once again.

Right now we have had to make a path of plywood through the yard from the driveway because of course since there is no grass it is all mud and we don't want that in the house.

I know it is probably not going to happen this year, but I need to get prepared for Spring so that when the weather turns nice I can start working on getting the grass growing once again.

Now would be a good time to put in a side walk if there is not one there already.

Then in the spring, plant the new grass seed. For your area I would suggest Kentucky Blue Grass Seed. Its a hardy grass that does well in high traffic areas, and does well in sun or shade.

It's quite expensive but if you can afford it you can have squares of grass brought in and the lawn immediately looks full. There are lots of companies that do this. Look on the internet to find information on a local company.

Well before all of the work started the grass here looked really nice. Though when they dug up the yard and of course covered some grass with a ton of dirt there went the lawn big time.

I would like to bring in grass so that it would look nice real quick but I have to agree the prices to have that done just are not in the budget here.

Now as for the idea of a sidewalk that would be a good idea seeing as how there isn't a side walk going out towards the drive way, there is only one straight from the porch to the mail box.

It most likely wouldn't cost a whole lot to have a sidewalk put it and most likely that is something that we could do ourselves with a little research.

I do know that with all of the rain that we are getting right now it is horrible. The mud is just getting everywhere no matter what we do it seems. Right now we have the bits of ply wood out there to walk on, but at times those even seem to get a little muddy and slippery.

What ever we decide to do we need to do it quickly because this is making a huge mess everywhere.
