Default Cutting Grass and Pulling Weeds

Here we are almost in the middle of October already. I really need to get my booty in gear and get the grass cut again and make sure I have all of the weeds pulled before the weather turns cold.

We probably will only have the chance to cut the grass and two or three more times before we see snow where I live.

One thing for sure, you never want to cut your grass too short for the winter months. That can kill it. You should leave it about three inches in height to get through the winter months.

My husband needs to check all of our windows and doors and see if we have any air leaks. If so he can caulk and spray foam where needed. Once we have cut the lawn for the last time he needs to prepare the weed eater and lawn mower for packing them away.

There is so much to be done.

I already have the winter blues lol.

I just cut the grass today, yet I know it won't be the last time that it needs to be done sadfully. Though I am glad it will need done again because it will make preparing the lawn mower for storage much easier.

The weedeater is brand new and has never been used yet so it won't need to have anything done to it until it gets used next year.

He just bought the weedeater but he prefers to use this hand tool thing to deal with weeds. Me I prefer to use machinary to do that kind of work,LOL.

So after I got the grass cut he took care of the weeds, then we went to get plastic, weather stripping and other bits and pieces to make sure that he and I both will stay warm during the cold winter.

We has purchased several things for winter already, but realized recently that there were more things needed so we had to fix that problem.

I don't want to think about winter just yet, but sadfully no matter how much you hope and pray to skip over winter, it just never seems to work.

All our yard work is done except dead heading a few plants and clipping them all back for winter.

We have our fuel tank filled and are going to Lowes tomorrow to order our new garage door which will help make our garage and basement much warmer.

The only thing I have left to do before the snow flies is to clean all windows inside and out and to spray off the siding one last time before winter sets in.

We also bought a generator today so that when the electricity goes off this winter, we will be able to have light and stay warm.

So all that said, we are ready to let em bring on the cold and snow.

Thanks for all the great tips! Do you think it's too late to put some grass seed down? I've got some beautiful soiza grass, but the darn stuff is like a thick brown carpet until at least June. I'm hoping to sow some fescue in to get the yard greened up in the spring. At least until the soiza grass suffocates it.

The answer to that question depends on where you live and what the climate is like there.

Let me know where you are located and I will do some research for you on Friday to see if you can plant the grass now. And whether or not it will take well if planted at this time.

Looking forward to helping with your question.
