Default Container gardens

Not everyone has a yard for planting a garden, if you are one here are some tips on Container gardens:

1.Establish the Size of Your Container Garden, make sure how much room so you know what size plant can be planted.

2.Provide good drainage, might need to poke holes in the bottom.

3.Soil requirements for container gardens, make sure you use a good soil, one that is a mix with peat, perlite or vermiculite will retain moisture longer and yet be well draining.

4.Choose plants with similar cultural requirements, that you would do even in a normal garden.

5.Favor drought tolerant plants, they already need daily watering, with no rain to help you out.

6.Balance the size of your plants and your container, will look best if plant is right size for container.

7.Judging sun exposure, know how much sunlight your plants need.

8.Watering container gardens, lack of water will have plants die quickly.

Container gardens to me are a great way to have flowers any place if you want to move them it is very easy to just pick them up and move to new location, also great if you live in a apartment, or do not have much of a yard to plant in.

Vegetables can also be grown this way, but you need to make sure that they get the proper amount of sunlight for each plant and water them if they are inside and if they are outside and it doesnt rain often then watering is also a must in this case.

Have any of you tried those topsy turvey plant systems yet? I think they have them for tomatos and strawberries.

I have been curious about how well they work. I wonder if they produce a decent amount of fruits?

Yes, I have tried them and dont like them. I can grow anything and do it very well but had no success with the topsy turvy.

Give me a little land for my tomatoes and strawberries, sunshine, and rain and I am a happy planter. The topsy turvy if put on your deck or whatever needs to be watered and if you have the time to water extra plants or live in an apartment with very little space for an actual garden, then these might work out ok if you have the extra time to care for the plants. But other than that scenario I wouldnt even bother using them.
