Many of our house plants are relatively safe to have around children and pets but one of them can be hazardous to all.
One of these are the Diffenbachia plant. While this is a very large, beautiful house plant, there are dangers associated with it. For instance, if any parts of the plant is eaten or the juice from the plant is not washed off your hands, and gets into your system, the following symptoms could occur:

Damage to cornea of the eye
Diarrhea
Eye pain
Hoarse voice
Nausea or vomiting
Swelling in mouth or tongue

In severe cases the swelling in the mouth and throat can become bad enough to shut off the airway of the person or animal involved.
