Default Aqua globes for watering plants.

As you can see by the picture, Aqua Globes are very pretty and would add to the beauty of your indoor or outdoor plants.. Yes, I use them outdoors too on plants that set close to the house and dont get a lot of moisture due to the fact of the overhang from the house.

Aqua Globes are meant to take away your need to water your plants all the time by doing it for you.

All you need to do is fill them with water, making sure the Aqua Globe is at a slight slant while filling to allow the air to escape from the globe.

Then you take a screw diver or something of that nature and poke a hole in the dirt somewhere in the pot. The hole must be slightly smaller than the end of the globe. Place the end of the Aqua globe in the hole, making sure not to go any deeper than the hole you have made as this will fill the end of the globe with dirt and it will not work properly.

These Aqua Globes work because as the soil dries out it releases oxygen which will cause the globe to release water to the plant. The globe will water your plant for you for up to 2 weeks.

I wonder if these can clog up over time if you have water with a lot of mineral content.

Just how wide is the opening on the end?

Otherwise they sound like a great idea and I am quite interested in them.

Like any other glass item that has water used in it, yes it can get mineral deposits in them, but all you have to do is fill with white vinegar and let set over nite then shake well to remove the deposits. Also, be sure to rinse very thoroughly after using the vinegar before reuse of the globe.

The opening is about as large as a large straw. And they are great, keeps from over or under watering plants!!

What about heat? Or cold? It won't matter inside, but in areas where you get 100 degrees heat and freezing temperatures, won't that affect the glass? Are they real glass or plasic?

They are real glass, and I only use mine outside in the summer in the shade in front of my house.

They will have to be brought in before it gets cold out because they wouldnt be able to stand the cold once its gets to freezing cause the water inside them would freeze and cause the glass to break.

I saw these advertised on the television. I wonder if the only way to get them is to order from the tv ad. Where did you purchase yours flippinout?

These would be great especially if you are traveling out of town for a while, you wouldn't need a plant sitter. The globe could take care of your green friends for ya! They do come in many colors I know from the ad I saw. You could match them up to the color of your flowers or your home decor if you chose to do so.

Wink Re: Aqua globes for watering plants.

A friend of mine purchased a couple of these so she didnt have to worry about her plants. Though she has so many plants that it would be very expensive to get Aqua Globes for them all, so she made am item close to the aqua globes. I believed she used a 20oz pop bottle and some small piping and some tape. It seems to work well, at least all of her plants are doing very well. She has also decorated them with paint and other craft items to make them look good.

The Aqua Globes that are advertised are beautiful, but I was thinking of trying to imitate them with my own design as your friend did. I'll let you know if I'm able to achieve a good design. I paint fairly well, so I feel I can make something pretty if I start out with materials which can be painted easily.
