Default Almost Time to Garden!

Hey guys, look at the calendar. It's almost time to garden!!! Yay!

I am more than ready to start breaking ground! With the prices of fruits and vegetables I am definitely planning on putting in a large garden this year. We seem to use a ton of green peppers, tomatos, potatos, lima beans and corn so for sure I am going to grow lots of those.

With the price of gas going up produce prices will continue to climb too. We have to pay for the fuel to get the veggies shipped.

I've already purchased some flower seeds and peat pots too. I have sweet william, morning glory's (love those!) and a few other flowers.

I will wait a few more weeks and then I will start them in the peat pots.

I love to work the garden and flower beds. It's actually very calming and relaxing to me. I am really looking forward to getting started.

Just got through planting spinach, chard, peas, broccoli, Brussels sprouts etc.

Got roses trimmed and fruit trees pruned. Soon it will be time to plant annuals...

Hey there flipitfast, you actually need to get your plants in the peat pots now. It is the middle of March already and we can safely set plants out the middle of May because May 18th or so is when we expect no more heavy frosts.

If you wait too much longer to put them in peat pots, they will be awfully small when you go to set them out. I start all my plants that will be going outdoors in the peat pots in the middle of February. That way I have larger plants to set out when its time. By starting them later, you will be extending their growth period, this way if you start them now, they will mature on time.

Ya, I'm a little late this year. I am just waiting until I get a few things done here and make some room for them. I am hoping to get them going weekend after next when I am off. I will have a little time then to get them started. I can't wait!
