I've heard of using block parties etc., to help people keep a home, but here is a story about using a party to sell a home. A famous home, as a matter of fact.

At a memorial event last week in the former home of William F. Buckley Jr. and his wife Pat, guests toured Mrs. Buckley’s chintz-draped bedroom.

LAST week, a memorial of sorts was held in the former New York home of Pat and William F. Buckley Jr. Mr. Buckley, the polymathic and polysyllabic godfather of modern conservatism, died in February, less than 10 months after his wife, the caustic and indefatigable society figure. In keeping with the Buckleys’ mischievous embrace of sometimes discordant elements, the event had more than one mission, and two different guest lists.

It seems this party didn't go as planned. People either left early feeling uncomfortable about it, or just attended to pay their last respects to the home they had spent so much time in with the hosts. I have to agree that Pat Buckley sure had a different sense of style, lol. It was good that she could afford to have a lot of help in decorating!
