Default Lowering your property taxes.

With the failing real estate market this may have already happened. If not there are some steps to insure that you are not paying to much in property taxes.

Take a good look at your tax bill and make sure that all of the information about your home is correct. Your lot size for instance could be wrong. The measurements of your home could be off.

Have your home appraised and your lot size checked to be sure that you are being charged the right amount. Check the compatibles in your area. These are the homes that have sold recently that are like or similar to your home in size.

If you feel that the information is wrong check with your county accessors office. Show them the information that you have. You may be able to save yourself a bundle.

Default Re: Lowering your property taxes.

This is great advise that I may be using soon. My property tax is so high I feel that it is unreasonable and am tired of paying so much. I am going to have to have it appraised to see if it can be lowered some. I wonder how much it will cost me to have it appraised. Does anyone have any idea of what the costs are?
