Default Staging mistakes you shouldn't make.

I happened upon a great article about staging that just floored me.
I can't believe that mistakes like the ones mentioned were even made.
The very first one I read was about a home that was advertised with
dining room. The mistake that was made was that the home owner had
been using that area as an office and then left it that way when it was
shown.
The potential buyers were greeted by the office as soon as they walked
in the door. They viewed the home and never saw the dining room that
they were expecting.
I can see that this mistake was preventable. I wouldn't want to feel like
I was walking into a doctors office when I was going to look at my next
home. The seller in this case could have changed the room back to a
dining room prior to showing the home or advertised it as an office that
could potentially be a dining room.

Some people would be able to picture it as a dining room with their own furniture in the room, but most people cant do that so the best thing to do is remove all the office furniture etc and replace it as a dining room before showing the house.

Or, as you said, advertise it as an office that could easily be converted to a dining room. People do go to these homes with certain expectations in mind, and this could definitely knock the sale of the home.
