Stageing with rugs let them floor you

Rugs are beautiful especially on hard wood floors. Choosing a rug though could become a chore.
Quote:
There are many things to consider before choosing a rug: color, texture, design, size, shape, fiber, price.
Here are some helpful tips to aid you in your search:
Play with your pattern, mixing traditional with modern.
Update an uninspired room with a bold pattern or colors.
Experiment with large patterns or interesting shapes.
If you have something vivid on the floor, tone back what you do with the walls, windows and other patterns in the room.

Rugs, Area Rugs Scatter Rugs

These are some great tips especially keeping your colors in the same family. Having a different color than the rest of the room will only draw your eye to the of beat color and take away from the rest of the room.

Rugs can be a great accent to a room. And I notice, when I am out shopping, that there are many more types, colors, and patterns to choose from than there used to be, which is great when you need that something special to make a room pop.

Rugs really do add a lot of texture and color to a room, making it vibrant and interesting. You can have beige walls and brown floors and still have a nice space that isn't too boring. Rugs can also bring a room together. You may have a splash of color here and there and have it all make sense by incorporating it into the carpet.

i totally agree, if you have the right rug, the right color, and the right size, it can make a huge difference in a room.
i have had people tell me that putting a rug down, makes the room look smaller?? what do you think?
thanks

I think that it all has to do with the size, shape, color, and placement of the rugs as to whether it would make the room look smaller or not.
Rugs should add accents to a room, not take away from the room in any way.
Rugs that are too dark can detract from the surrounding accents you have going on, and if you are putting a throw rug in a small room, stay with a smaller rug as the larger it is, the smaller the room will look.

Adding mirrors to any room will give the illusion that it is bigger than it really is. This is a really great idea for those small rooms. I used to think this was bogus, until I moved into my home. I put a couple of mirrors up in my living room and it really does make it seem larger and more comfortable. Now as for losing your hubby in the room... I dont think he will be able to get lost, but if you add enough mirrors you might be able to have some fun watching him bounce off them trying to get out. LOL.

I love big mirrors in any room. They do wonderful things in my opinion. They really do make rooms appear larger and they also reflect light throughout the room, giving it a nice appearance. I really don't think you can go wrong with mirrors. Just don't ever break one lol!
