One of the most import thing in staging a home for sale is to make sure that everything is extremely clean. If someone sees a home that isn't clean enough they aren't going to buy it because if the home owner didn't care enough to clean house they most likely aren't going to care enough to really take care of the place.

Cleaning every corner, under everything and every inch of the place is the only way to make a home stage really work.

Also topping things off with some basic decor, fresh coat of paint, replacing out dated fixtures and making sure things aren't at all cluttered are really going to help the home sell more quickly and that is what everyone wants.

You got that right! I have seen shows where realtors are showing a house and the carpets are stained and so on. People do not like that at all! Make sure the entire house is as neat and clean as humanly possible!

I agree, watching some of these shows I am surprised that people would be willing to show their homes with not only stained carpets but peeling paint, holes in walls, dirt smuges on walls and cabinet doors.

I never would have someone in my home if it were looking like some of these places do. I would be ashamed, but here are these people attempting to sell their homes looking like this.
