Default Better quality paint.

We've talked many times about the importance of painting when staging or flipping a home. We've discussed the best colors to use to get the greatest effect.

But, quality of the paint you use is right up there at the top of the list.

Most cheaper paints will take 2 to 3 coats to cover well depending on what colors you are painting over and the cheaper paints do not wash as well as the more expensive paints.

One of the best paints is Behr Premium Plus Ultra. It costs under $35 but it is a paint and primer in one and only takes one coat to cover, making this paint the better value in the long run.

You can really tell the difference between a cheap paint and a good quality paint when you go to wash your walls down.

I have been guilty of using cheaper paints and had found that when I went to wash the walls, they were just plainly harder to wash and the walls didnt come clean as with the better quality paints and I would end up giving up on the wall washing and go buy new paint.

Well, Ived learned a lot from those days. One thing Ive learned is that its cheaper in the long run just to go ahead and buy and apply a better quality paint and less time consuming when you consider the fact that with the better quality paints, you dont have to paint as often, thereby saving money in the long run.

I've been using Valspar Premium quite a bit lately from Lowe's and mostly the color called Beachnut, it's a brownish / beige and everyone seems to love it.

The Valspar Premium is about $30 a gallon but 1 coat and it's done.

I'm still looking for a good popular green color but nothing that hits it out of the park yet like the Beachnut.

I also use Valspar from Lowes. And to me the price is well worth is because it is a one coat paint and a good durable paint.

I have seen the color you are talking about and it is a very nice color but as to the green, I saw one you might like. Let me see if I can find the name of it for you and I will post it here.

which is the better paint oil based or water based to me using a oil based seems much smarter as u can wipe it down if u use a water based it fades and u would have to repaint and that makes no sense to me this makes double work for ur self and that defeats the reason u painted in the frist place so a oil base sound better and makes better sense here is a link to seedifferent colors and there are some pretty selections here

I always use oil based paints because water based does fade quicker and is not easy to wash down. The marks and dirt seem to tend to stick to water based paints whereas washing down walls that have been painted with oil based paint is much simpler and easier a task.

My living room is in need of painting this year so I will be making a trip to Lowes soon to buy new paint for that room. Im not sure yet what color but its definitely time for a change.
