And another idea for you. Go to your local garden shop and check with a worker there so that you can plant flowers so that you will have flowers coming up all season long.

This way you wont end up with any bare spots. And they can tell you what and how to plant them for the best results.

Thanks to everyone.

We ended up with a sucessful offer and expect to be closing in about a month so the timing will be great for the shrub and plant ideas.
I was unsure about if it was the right choice or not and a your opinions really made a difference. Now I can't wait to put these into use.

Eyeofngt- I can't believe the differences of the before and afters on the link you kindly provided.Lots of valuable idea's here.

Best to all and Thank you again.

I am so glad to hear that you are going ahead with this house and that you have an offer already.

You will be very surprised at the way that house will look when all the work is done.

The best of luck to you. And be sure to come back and let us know how it turned out. In fact, how about a before and after picture of the house? It would be great to see all our plans in action.

On HGTV they are painting over brick in almost all cases now, seems to be the "in-thing" this year.

However, I don't know what they will do when the fad ends, they will have ruined perfectly wonderful brick.

I agree with leaving the brick alone and white trims everywhere, especially if it has a dark roof. It will give it depth and detail.

I also agree with lots of green, but I wouldn't use ivy, it tends to end up being a real nuisance on brick, rooting in all the crevices and impossible to remove without major cleanup.

Will do and thanks Flippiout.
Before and after pictures are definately on my to do list.Great suggestion.

Lady Flipper,
I am amazed that people are talking so much about painting brick these days.
I'm thinking it would be a huge minus and scare potential buyers away (why would a buyer purchase a painted brick house when they could find a non-painted home).JMO
I love the all brick homes and even though this color is not my favorite I would never take time and money to turn a good selling point into a bad.

Appreciate your input on leaving it alone and for letting me know the Ivy is a bad idea.

Best regards to all on the forum.
