Default Extremely mild winter.

This year finds Ohio having one of the mildest winters we have known in years. The temps outside have gotten pretty cold but overall, most days find me able to go outside and get some of the work done that would have otherwise have had to wait until spring time.

I have actually been able to go outside and spray off the deck and the front porch, the house, and all sidewalks which makes for a cleaner much nicer looking property.

Dont wait until spring to do your outside work, take advantage of any nice days this winter to play catch up and this spring will find you more able to enjoy other things besides work, like maybe a fishing trip.

Since we are having such a mild winter with a lot of melting snow, melting ice, and rain, one has to keep an eye on the large trees you have in your yards as their root systems arent as large as what you think they are and if the tree is top heavy, it could fall over because the ground is so saturated with water.

Be sure to take good care of your big trees and have them pruned from time to time. Plus, pruning them will keep their limbs from entangling with electric wires which is a common cause of black outs.

I also use the nice warm days to remove the dead weeds on my property and believe me its a lot easier to do it now when you dont have to fight your way through a big tangle of weeds.

This is also a good time to do it if you have a rather large area of weeds etc to clear such as on unused parts of your property.

I also use these nice days to walk around on my property and pick up and dispose of anything that might have blown into my yard. All this just makes a lot less work come early spring.

So much for the mild winter, today it is snowing and really windy with low outside temperatures which makes the wind chill factor seem even colder out than it actually is.

With this in mind, dont forget about your outside animals. When it gets cold and windy out like it is now, bring them inside till the weather improves.

As I have stated, our winter here in Ohio has been a really mild one. With that in mind, one has to wonder what the summer will bring this year.

For one thing, bugs. The temps havent gotten cold enough and stayed cold enough, long enough to kill them and because of this, it could be a really miserable summer bugwise.

Stock up on bug spray or better yet, look in our going green section to find natural bug killers to help keep our planet green.
