Default A Curb Appeal Exercise

A homes curb appeal is very important if you are planning on selling your home. If a home is in poor condition you are not going to sell the home and if you do it is not going to be for the price your hoping for.

Here is a little test that you can do to your home to help you make the proper improvements to increase your homes value. This is good to do even if your not planning on selling your home.

1. Park at a distance from the house, like across the street or far enough down the drive way and step out of your car. Take a good look at the home and write down what your first impression is.

2. Make a list of both the positive features of the home as well as the worst features. Also look to see if these features can be minimized or improved upon.

3. Get yourself in the frame of mind that this is the first time youve been to your home. I know it sounds silly, but if you can do this it will help you to help your homes curb appeal.

4. Park your car where potential buyers would park. Then walk to the home. Look around carefully as the buyers would. If you notice areas in need of cleaning, repair, paint or anything else make note of it and take care of these areas.

It is also very helpful to take picture of your home with the use of a digital camera. View these pictures carefully, then switch your camera to show the same pictures in greyscale. By removing the colors from the pictures it can be easier to see problem areas.
