Default Updating a room inexpensively.

First, theres the issue of paint, this is the biggest project in a room and can bring some fantastic results when coupled with the right accessories.

You dont have to stick with white on the ceilings either, you could put a lighter, complimentary color on the ceiling if you like. And you dont have to stick with 4 walls of the same color, you can do a contrasting color on one wall and use it as an extra seating area if in a living room per se.

Throws and toss pillows are an inexpensive way to dress up a couch that is still very useable but that you would like to change the look of.

Do a new window treatment, instead of buying drapes, use a rod and buy a suitable length of material, hem the sides and bottoms and use as a swag treatment on your windows.

Plants can fill in an empty corner and be used in conjunction with candles as accessories on tables.

Groups of pictures can be used as wall decorations, very seldom anymore are pictures hung by them selves.

Throw rugs can add impact to a room if done in bright colors, or you can stick with the patterned ones for a totally different look.

None of these updates are expensive, and they are all simple to do. But the outcome of your endeavors can make a room look homey and completely different.

I hate to admit it but cheap decorating is just about all the decorating I do LOL. I cannot afford to go out and buy all of the expensive items for my home. I have three children and I am lucky if things are not stained or ruined in a weeks time. Painting doesn't have to be expensive and can make a big impact in a room. Also, adding a few accessories can make a big difference and do not have to cost alot.

Wink Updating a room inexpensively

A friend of mine had painted her living room ceiling the same color as the carpet in the room. I have to admit it really looked great. I had to ask her why she did this and she told me that it makes the room look bigger. It is very true. I really hadnt noticed that her livingroom was as small as it is. With the use of a couple mirrors and the colored ceiling, made her living room look quite a bit larger. It is only a trick of the mind, but as long as it works it doesnt matter.
