Spruce it up with stencils.
Stencils can be used anywhere. On walls, floors, furniture, lampshades. You name it, you can stencil it.
To make your own stencils, go to your local craft store to obtain so some frosted acetate (mylar) and lay it over the swatch of cloth or wallpaper on which you have found a pattern you like. Tape the Mylar over the motif, trace it onto the mylar, leaving a few inches of mylar around the motif. Then cut it out with an X-acto knife. And there you have your stencil pattern.
To cover a slightly imperfect wall, you can give it a fresh coat of paint then give it a wall paper effect by stenciling a pattern on the walls. When you are done, you will have a wallpaper effect and the imperfections will not be noticable.
For country charm, stencil a border, then stencil a chair rail in the same pattern.
For a different look, stencil a border around your window and door frames.
You can even stencil patterns on your wooden floors or just as a border around the wooden floor.
There is no end to the imaginative ways in which you can use stenciling to spruce up just about anything.
