Default Make Your Own Inexpensive Curtains

Curtains can really bring a room together, they can also be very expensive especially if you have a lot of windows to treat. Making your own curtains can save you a lot of money and are very easy to do.

Even beginning sewers can easily update the window treatments in their home by making simple curtains. Because curtain panels are nothing more than rectangles of fabric, there are no complicated angles to figure out, curved seams to make fit, or tiny pieces to put together.

Curtains really are very simple to make. You can find material in any color and fabric that you desire and turn it into beautiful window treatments at a low cost. I have also used no-sew bonding to make curtains instead of sewing.

I was talking to my sister today about possibly making my own curtains for my living room project of the year. I think that it would definatly be cheaper than buying draperies. I'll have to think more about this idea. Thanks for the tips on making your own curtains.

I have done this before. Made the curtains for the kitchen in a house I used to live in.

This kitchen had a picture window in it with a window seat, a rather large window above the kitchen sink, a window in the door, and a window in the adjoining pantry.

I went curtain shopping and found exactly what I wanted, until I looked at the prices and added them altogether and found that they came to $565. Well, needless to say, I didnt bother buying them.

Instead, I went to the local fabric shop and found material that was comprable to what I had found in the curtains I had seen, and bought the material and everything that I would need to make my own curtains, the total came to $46.80.

I went home, sat down that evening and started sewing. Since the curtains I had wanted to buy were not complicated, making my own to match that theme was quite easy.

My curtains turned out fantastic, and with a savings of over $400, I got the look I wanted, saved a bunch of money and had a general feeling of "wow, look what I did".
