Talking Inexpensive Living Room Makeovers

This is the first post of many that I will be doing in budget-wise makeovers for different rooms in a home. I hope that they will give you some ideas on giving your home a fresh appearance without breaking the bank!

As we've discussed many times here, a dash of color can add a lot of appeal to a room. It's not always necessary to go to the bother of painting the walls to achieve the effect that you want, however. Many times a simple change can do the same thing.

When needing a change in a living room, sometimes an addition of a chair with a splash of color is all you need. Check out your local garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores to find an inexpensive chair for your room.

Keep in mind that if your existing furniture has legs, that you look for a chair (or other piece of furniture) that also has legs.......this is key in keeping your room blended. Also be sure that the legs are of the same, or very similar color of those already in existence.

This applies to any wood pieces that you may want to see in your room. Even if you have a modern look, and would like to introduce a vintage piece of furniture, it will look great if the wood matches!! Don't be afraid to mix and match!

Fabrics also don't need to match as long as the colors and patterns don't clash with the other pieces. Doing this can add a lot of interest in a room, without adding things that you may need to dust, lol, such as decorative items may do.

Adding complimentary throw pillows and maybe an area rug that has similar tones may be all that you need to do to add some spice and color to your room without going to all the expense and bother of painting
