Default Inexpensive Lighting

Lighting is one thing every home needs. If a place does not have proper lighting it can make those living there and visitors alike the feeling that they are in a dungeon!!!

That is something no one wants to contend with.I don't remember what I was watching when I saw this, it was some kind of craft show, but they were taking old lamps and lighting fixtures and giving them all a make over.

One ceiling light fixture was seriously outdated and part of the shade was broken and one part missing. So to fix this one up they took just some plain old fashioned foam cups and cut them to size, added some color and used the cups as light shades. It turned out amazingly beautiful. Though I will say that the color they put onto the cups helped to ensure that they would not melt if the bulbs heated up a bit.

Also for the table lamps they took metal coat hangers along with some material that matched the room and made lamp shades for them.

All in all these are great ideas for anyone wanting to use those light fixtures but don't have the shades for them.

You know it really is amazing how much changing the lighting style can change an entire room. You can use lighting to focus on a feature of the house that you want to stand out. Lighting can make all the difference.

My luck if I tried to create my own fancy lamp shades I'd end up setting my house on fire!!!
