Default Indoor trellis for vining plants.

I love houseplants. I love the green and colorful blooms in the winter and I have many plants in my home. Another reason I keep so many houseplants is the fact that they clean the air.

In my kitchen, on my counter, I have a small brass and glass stand with a Philodendron Vine on it and when I brought the plant in, the vine was only about a foot long, now there are many vines and they are around 4 foot long each, they were beginning to take over the counter top.

I had to come up with a way to get them up off the counter top and yet not take up a lot of space doing it. So I asked my hubby to make me a trellis out of a long shutter we had but he pointed out that it would come out onto the countertop rather far, so we nixed that idea.

Last night, an idea hit me. I took a piece of green fencing that we had and cut it to be just as wide as the small stand the plant was on and fashioned a trellis out of it and put the vines on the trellis and let them hang down the other side.

This really looks pretty now and at first glance you dont even notice the green fencing that I used.

Being ingenuitive and using your imagination can save you much money when it comes to doing things around the house that might otherwise cost quite a few dollars.

I love vining plants too. A long time ago I was a ladies house and in her kitchen she had Ivy vines growing all around the top of the walls, close to the ceiling. I can't remember what she used to get them to stay up there but man was it pretty. And every few feet of vine she had a basket hanging as a decoration. It was really beautiful.

When having a vine hanging around your walls, just below the ceiling, many people use common cup hooks. By using these hooks, it gives the vine a rather draped look and by putting the baskets right below where the vine is on the cup hook, it would be very striking.

Creativity, as I said, is the major way of showing off your house plants to their best advantage.

For instance, in a large foyer, you could get a grecian stand to set a vining plant on and let it hang to the floor.

Plants not only bring ambiance to a room, but they can also help deaden sound. Making your otherwise noisy areas just a little more quiet.

Finally I remeber what she used. It was lattice! It was cut short (about 1 foot I'd say) and it was all along the ceiling on the walls. All the way around the kitchen. You could just see it here and there. It was really pretty. A great idea!

That would go great with a grape decor I think!

That would be beautiful to see. I would love to have something like that in my home.

Guess I will have to start working on the hubby and hopefully I will be able to wear him down sometime soon,LOL.
