I painted my carpet!!!!!
My home office is a very busy room, I work here, do crafts here, and a white carpet was not the brightest idea I ever came up with for a room that is as busy as this one is.
One day, after vaccuuming and cleaning the white carpet, I noticed that it just wasnt as white as it once was, no matter what cleaning product I used on it. So I sat down to think about what I could do to rectify this situation.
Replacing the carpet wasnt an option at the time, plus the work of moving 2 large desks and a large filing cabinet completely out of the room didnt appeal to me in the least, so I had to come up with something else.
Throw rugs would have probably helped, but I have 2 very playful cats that cant stand a straightened throw rug, in fact, they roll up in them so that option was out.
So now what? That was the question that plagued me for over a week. Then one day, I was in my craft closet and came across a couple of cans of black spray paint, and since the rest of the carpet in the house is "marbled coal", I thought, "why not?" Im gonna give this idea a shot.
I carefully vaccuumed the carpet completely, moved one big desk out of the way and started spray painting my carpet. Did I just hear you gasp in shock, well, dont be shocked because when the paint dries, the carpet is as soft as it was before you insanely take the spray paint to it.
I would spray a little, then check the hallway carpet to see how close a match I was getting, and when I was satisfied, I let the paint dry well, put the desk back in place, and continued on with the job at hand.
When I got done with this project, it was a close match to the wall to wall carpeting throughout the rest of the house, and I was very satisfied with the job and the look of the finished carpet.
Caring for this carpet is just the same as caring for any other carpet. You vaccuum and use the rug scrubber on it just like you do in the rest of the house. And when you have areas that are lighter in color than the rest of the carpet, just grab the spray can and give it touch up.
No one will know the difference if you dont tell them. And its a very inexpensive way to get a brand new look.
