How To Dry Flowers
Now is the perfect time to grab some of those beautiful flowers from your gardens and get them dried so that you will have their warmth and beauty through out the winter months.
If you have never dried flowers before or have forgotten how to do it here is what I do.
I gather bunch of flowers that I like and band them together with a rubber band. I cut stems to desired length but never shorter than 6". Then remove excess foliage from the bunches.
Then I clear out a closet (or any dark, dry place will work) and I take some dental floss and tie the bunches of flowers to a wire hanger. I can usually get 2 or 3 bunches per hanger depending on the bunch size.
Let them dry for at least 2 weeks possibly 3. Before you remove them make sure that they are completely dried. Once dry, I spray mine with a bit of hair spray for a bit of added protection. If your drying your flowers to make potpourri then there isn't a need for the hair spray.
