Default Football Bedroom

My son has been begging me for a long time now to redecorate his bedroom and to make it less boring. He really doesn't have a whole lot going on in his room right now as far as a "design." His walls are pretty boring, they are a dark brown paneling and he has a tile floor. He isn't big on deco but is tired of the plainess of his room.

We have decided we are going to redo his room soon and plan to do it with a football theme. He absolutely loves football and the Dallas Cowboys are his favorite team. So, we are going to start with them.

We plan to paint his walls and possibly his ceiling a combination of silver and blue, Dallas Cowboy colors. I think we should paint the bulk of his walls the silver and border with the blue. This way, his room won't be so dark.

Next, we plan to add big blue stars with the paint on the silver. Probably just one or two stars so as not to over do it and for the fact that they will be big.

We are going to get matching bedspread, sheet set and curtains to set the room off. Maybe even a couple throw pillows the same colors.

I think it will be great and he will love it. Does anyone have any other suggestions I may be able to use in the space to make it even better? Any ideas are welcome.

Have you thought of getting a border with footballs on it? You can use it as a trim at the top of the walls, plus as a chair rail trim. This could really set the room off.

And for an added touch, put a smaller silver and blue star on each football on the trim. That would be a good touch.

You may find some great ideas if you check your local craft store, or even WalMart. In my area, we have some great themed stick-ons, sponges, etc. There are little stick-on football players and footballs (also soccer, baseball, etc.) you could give him a little football field on a wall - or perhaps decorate a dresser, or his door with the figures.

I know you don't want to go too far, but just play around with the idea and see what you like and what you feel is too much (don't just stick the stickers right away - use some painters tape to check out some different designs).

Flip_it_fast, you say your son has paneling in his room and you are wanting to paint over it. I made a post here about how to paint over paneling and keep it from peeling off. you may want to check that out. It is titled "Paneling to Perfect", you will find it in the "House Flip Tips" section of this site.
As for decorating tips, I would say before you begin the process, plan everything out in detail so that when you do start you will know exactly what you are wanting to do and you wont be stopping to figure out what it is you were doing. I say this because its happened to me. I get into something and forget what the next step should be. LOL.

Awesome find, AtTheBeach!! That chair is really cute, and would certainly fit the Dallas Cowboy theme to perfection!
