Fall Frugal Decorating
Some extremely simple decorating ideas for fall that wont empty out your wallet are the uses of salt dough, paper mache', tin cans and paper bags. These simple crafts are great family get together projects.
Salt Dough is made by mixing 1 cup flour, 1 cup salt and about 1/2 cup water just enough to make a dough which is not sticky). Roll out the salt dough and use your imagination or cookie cutters to create your decorations. Once done bake dough in oven at 200 degrees for about 30 minutes on each side. Once they are done baking allow to cool, and begin painting. These can be strung for window decorations, placed in your flower pots for added splashes of color around the home. Possibilities are endless.
Paper Mache' is another simple way of decorating your home. Just combine equal portions of flour and water. Then soaking stips of newspaper in it, then draping the strips over any form such as a bottle, balloon or even your face (be sure breathing is not impacted in any way). Once the form is covered allow it to dry throughly. You may need to add more of your water and flour mixture to act as a glue. You can make pumpkins, masks, ghosts, anything your imagine can think of you can just about create using paper mache'.
Paper Pumpkins are great crafts for kids to do. These are done by just painting lunch sized paper bags orange, then paint on a pumpkin face. If you want you can even cut out the face and place white christmas lights into the bag through a hole in the bottem to allow light to escape from them.
Tin Ghosts are another idea to decorate for halloween. Using an empty soda can, spray paint them white. Using the top of the can as the face with the hole as the mouth create your ghost. You can even either draw arms on the cans or with the use of paper you can add on arms. These are very cute to hang from a tree outside or on your porch.
