Default Easy and Economical Decorating

There are many ways to get a whole new, fresh look to a room or your whole house for that matter. Here are a few ways to get quick, and great results.

Try slipcovers to change the feel of a space. You can make, have made or buy ready-made slipcovers that will freshen up a room in a hurry. Especially economical ones are those which have a wintry color on one side and a summery color on the other. Then a simple flip of the slipcover gives a whole new look again.

Try new (or different) lampshades. You may be surprised of the change made in a room by simply using a different shade, as lighting patterns will be altered, and of course a new color shade can make a big difference.

Add area rugs, don't be afraid to try different colors and patterns, you may be pleasantly surprised by trying new things. Often just swapping out the area rugs between two rooms will give a brand new feel to both spaces.

Reorganize bookshelves - be sure the book spines are at the very edge, and then perhaps just rearrange the decorative items you have on the shelves can make a huge difference in the feel of the room.

Change the accent pillows on your sofa, bringing in some different colors for a change of mood.

Check for bare areas in the room and either rearrange furniture to fill the space, or even just bring in a potted plant to add a change.

Clean up the entryway, adding baskets, boxes, shelves - whatever you need so that there will be a place for all the odd items that get left in the entryway. After all this is the area that guests see first in your home, keep it neat.

Just rearranging artwork, and decorative displays on shelves can make a difference in the room's feel.

Toss out, recycle, or donate all items that are no longer used in your home. This is maybe the biggest change you can make. Getting rid of all the clutter will make your space feel larger, and really does even make you feel lighter, and happier. (At least it has that effect on me, lol).

Those are a great bunch of ideas for inexpensively changing the look of a room.

And, dont forget about the curtains. Just changing window treatments in a room can make it brighter and more cheerful. Dont be afraid to go for a totally different look in this area. Let the sun shine in.

Also remember that if you donate that clutter you have removed to a charity to get a reciept, or at least keep a list for tax purposes. This is deductible.
