Default Decorate with Flowers

Using flowers to help decorate is a great way to really add some eye popping color to any room in the house.

Of course flowers can get a bit expensive if you go out and buy fresh ones when needed. Though a great option for this is to grow your own in your own flower garden. This also helps with the curb appeal of your home as well.

Then again there is also the option to purchase artifical flowers and place them into a vase. This is something that saves money in the long run, though does not add that wonderful smell that only fresh flowers can add to a home, and artifical flowers tend to collect a whole lot of dust and need to be washed often.

I love having fresh flowers in vases around my home. I love the colors, smell and the different sizes and shapes of the flower petals. They do add a lot of interest to any room in any home.

You are right, flowers do add a lot of color to any room. Even the artificial ones are great and here are some ideas on using artificial flowers instead of real ones.

Plastic artificial flowers can be cleaned by putting them in a plastic bag and adding a cup of salt then shake vigorously. This technique will remove the dust that has accumulated on the flowers.

Other artificial flowers that are non plastic can even be dyed with food coloring to assure that you get the color and the variation on the petals that you like.

As to smelling real flowers, you can get the same pleasant smell from the artificial ones if you buy essential oils at a craft shop in the scent you like and sprinkle a drop or two on each flower.

So this way you can have both the flowers and the flowery scent all year long.

Very interesting tips you have listed here. I look forward to giving them a try.

Personally I know that attempting to clean artifical flowers is a task that I have always dreaded. It seems that no matter what you try to get them cleaned once again it seems that it never works.

Though I like the idea of using salt to remove the dust, dirt and grim that piles up on them.

I also like the idea of adding in your favorite scents to make the artifical flowers smell just like fresh cut ones. These two tips for artifical plastic flowers is great, and would save a lot of money in the long run when it comes to decorating.

Thanks for these tips they will come in handy in the future for me. I have a flower garden and that is normally where I get my flowers for my home. However having the artifical ones mixed in will give me even more flowers to decorate with and will add even more eye catching appeal to every room in my home.

Thanks again for posting these tips, I know that they are really going to come in handy not only for myself and home, but for others as well.

You are very welcome.

And in addition to those hints, try dyeing the silk and cloth flowers if you cant find the perfect color for your room when you go to buy the artificial flowers.

It is very simple to do. I dyed mine with food coloring and found that when I dip the flower petals in the dye, it tends to bleed toward the center of the flower giving it a little shading of the original color.

I did this trick on white flowers for my bathroom in order to attain the shade of blue that I couldnt find in the store. It worked out great.

You know what this year many of my flowers didn't fair too well at all. I think it's because we have had such a scorching summer that it's been too much for the plants. I bought some fake flowers and put them in the planters to replace the ones that dies and they look really nice. You can find fake ones that really do look like the real deal.
