Wow, heres an auction for ya..... if you are absolutely stinking rich lol. I read that they are going to auction off the Silverdome located in Pontiac, Michigan. The Silverdome used to be the home of the Detroit Lions and hosted Superbowl XLI, Hulk Hogan and the Pope!
The Silverdome sits on 127 acres! It has more than 80,000 seats and when it was built back in 1975, it was the biggest in the NFL.
Real estate auction house, Williams & Williams is handling the auction. They are based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A spokeswoman for the auction company says they will not estimate the value of the property. That will be determined by the final bid. Back in 1975 it cost $55.7 million to build.
Emergency financial manager for the city of Pontiac says that they need to unload the financial burden of the stadium. He says upkeep costs about $1.5 million dollars annually and the stadium has seen very little use since the NFL 2001-2002 season. He says with everything else the Detroit area has been dealing with financially lately they need to sell this off and use that money for other things.

"The Detroit or southeast Michigan market does not need the dome in its current uses," he said. "The population base is not expanding, and between The Palace in Auburn Hills, Ford Field and the Joe Lewis Arena [both in Detroit], anyone looking at it has to have an alternate use in mind for the facility or the land."

I just wonder what kind of money this auction will bring. Anyone interested in bidding can do so from now until November 12th.
