Default Auctioned home questions

OK, we all know that the economy is really horrible right now, and no one can really say when things are going to get better.

My question is...is now a good time to try and buy properties from auctions?

Another question I have is, if I were to find a home at an auction which I like how do I find out all the things I need to know about the home?

A friend of mine purchased a home at an auction a few months ago, and informed me that they jumped into this before they were really prepared. Though they didnt explain what had happened. I dont want something like this happening to me.

Any help anyone can offer sure would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I myself would suggest that you make some phone calls. There are usually some phone numbers available in the advertisements. Ask for pertinent information. See if there is anyway that the home can be viewed prior to the auction. And make sure you know the terms of the sale before you start bidding.

My biggest worry about auctioned homes is that you cannot always find an accurate description of the homes problems, such as leaking roof, bad flooring and so on. Sometimes, you really don't know what you could possibly be getting in to.
