In order for people to qualify for the homebuyer tax credit they had to have contracts signed by April 30th and the deal has to be closed by June 30th.
I guess all of a sudden people are demanding that their deals be closed on immediately, before the June 30th deadline. Even the ones that didn't have any contracts signed as of April 30th. What they are trying to do is scam the system to get the $8,000 homebuyers tax credit even though they had no contracts signed by April 30th.
Quote:
"We're getting an enormous number of contracts with June 30 closing dates even though the parties just came to terms, like yesterday," according to Glenn Kelman, CEO of real estate broker Redfin. "The clients won't explain why they need a June 30 closing but they still insist on it."
To claim the credit, buyers had to sign contracts by April 30 and close the sales by June 30. But real estate agents say some buyers are demanding quick closing dates to meet the June 30 deadline, even though they failed to meet the April 30 deadline.

They are so foolish to even try that! They could end up in a civil suit or face criminal penalties if they get caught!
