Can You Make a Profit?

I just read something where someone asked "Can you really make a profit flipping houses these days"? The answer that was given was pretty much "No".

I'd like to hear all of your opinions on this.

The reason they state that they say no is because of the economy and the housing market. They said it's too unsteady, too unsure.

I feel very much differently about it.

I think it's still a great time to flip houses but only if you have enough background to know what you are doing. I would never suggest that someone who has never bought or sold a house before jump in and try this. House flipping doesn't work like that. It is a risk. It has always been a risk. It's never been a sure thing. You can never guaruntee that you will be able to buy a house for $200,000. do some repairs and sell in two months for $300,000! You just don't know. But it is still a very viable way of making money if you know what you are doing!

You are absolutely right. You have to know your market, do your research, get a feel for neighborhoods, and have impeccable, impeccable timing. For those people who can find the right house in the right location--and those people willing to do a lot of the work themselves to increase the profit margin--this market is anything but dead. Sure, it's going to take more time, and the profits may not be what they once were, but that doesn't mean it can't be done.
