Default Working off the rent.

I am not sure but it seems that alot of people are doing this. They let their renters do work to the home and then take money off of the rent for them having done so.

My daughters landlord hired her to finish the basement apartment in their buiding after the man she hired had a stroke.

The landlord however decided that she is going to pay her by check instead of just taking it off of her rent.

I reckon that there is a reason for this. She will then have proof that she had work done to the apartment.

I guess all in all its a good solution for all involved. How many of you do this sort of thing?

My landlord works a full time job, plus is older, he has some of his renters do work for money off the rent. When we moved in the house needed new water lines to two of the rooms, he took it off the next months rent for us to do it.

I have a friend who lives in a trailer park and he cuts the grass there on all empty lots as well for those who aren't able to do it themeselves. He also plows snow and salts during the winter to keep everyone safe.

This pays for his rent which is a good deal. He also does other work for people around there as well. Things like working on their cars, home repairs and what not. This earns him some spending money.

It is a good deal all the way around for him. Deals like this don't happen often but they are increasing more and more because people are struggling more and more as prices on everything rises yet paychecks remain the same.

People are going to do all that they can even if it is as simple as working for the rent instead of paying out of pocket. Manuel labor is better than not being able to pay your bills.

I got one for you, I know someone who did work for their landlord on the landlords house not the one they live in, now he is refusing to give them they money he owes them for the work, as evened threatened bodily harm to them if they do not do more work. What type of landlord is this? I would be paying less rent to make up for what is owed to them.
